The Hose Safety Institute Advisory Council provides important guidance, input, review and focus in support of the Institute’s goals, which include:
Hose Safety Institute Advisory Council Membership is afforded to invited end-users and professionals who have particular expertise, experience in, and/or a broad range of perspectives regarding hose safety. Council members provide evaluation, review and feedback regarding the Hose Assembly Guidelines, as well as addressing key issues, emerging technologies and/or processes related to hose assembly safety, quality and reliability.
Council members are drawn from hose assembly end-users, academia, industry, standards/regulatory bodies, related associations or industry groups and government agencies. Participation on the Council is by invitation from NAHAD, with individuals selected based on one or more of the following criteria:
Jeffrey Andrasik – Smithers Rapra:
Jeff Andrasik joined Smithers Rapra in 2002 and has worked in the Product Testing Laboratory, Material Testing Laboratory and the Sample Preparation Area and is currently the Product Testing Supervisor and Senior Test Engineer in Akron, OH. Jeff has worked on a variety of test programs including pressure, vibration, and temperature specifications on automotive, industrial, aerospace, nuclear, and consumer products. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Polymer Engineering from the University of Akron in 2007.
Smithers Rapra is the global leader in rubber, plastics, polymer and composites testing and consulting services focused mainly on the tire, industrial, transportation, consumer and medical industries. Smithers Rapra encompasses what was previously Smithers Rapra Technologies, established in the United Kingdom in 1919 and Smithers Scientific Services, established in the United States in 1925.
Jo Marie Diamond - East County Economic Development Council:
Jo Marie Diamond is President and CEO of a full-service economic development organization serving primary industry in San Diego’s eastern sub-region, including statewide and national projects that support their core mission. She oversees ECEDC’s flagship project, the Connectory.com Network that she shepherded from concept formation through current U.S. expansion. Ms. Diamond serves as Program Manager for ECEDC’s DLA-sponsored Connectory R&D projects and has managed the government agency contacts, company outreach, as well as the technical team developing enhancements to the Connectory database, web application, and search algorithms to address more effectively Defense acquisition and procurement requirements. She leads the current pilot project investigating the development of a DLA market intelligence capability to align solicitations more closely to the natural way industry does business.
Ms. Diamond has 30 years of experience in providing technology and industry forecasting, industry research and analysis, and program planning/management to companies, local and federal government agencies, and to non-profit organizations. Prior to joining the ECEDC, Ms. Diamond was principal with Business Change Catalysts (BC2), a technology assessment and systems analysis consulting firm.
Jeff Rosser - Barrick Goldstrike Mines Inc:
As Superintendent of Operations and Industrial Health in the Safety and Health Division of Barrick Goldstrike Mines Inc., Jeff Rosser is responsible for leading his portion of the site safety and health team department in implementing and sustaining the corporate safety and health management system. This includes working with stakeholders at all levels to encourage safe work behaviors and ensure healthy work environments. He previously served as Superintendent – Open Pit Mine Maintenance, where he was responsible for leading his department to provide reliable equipment to meet the direct and indirect demands of a 140 million ton per year mining operation. In total, Jeff has worked in the Open Pit Division of Barrick Goldstrike for more than 22 years.

James Dean Vogel, P.E. - The BioProcess Institute:

The Institute's broad client list ranges from Fortune 500 companies to start-up manufacturers and their suppliers in the biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, food, and cosmetics industries. As the firm’s Founder and Director, Mr. Vogel, a licensed professional engineer in NJ, has more than 25 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical, food and cosmetic industries. His consulting expertise lies in all areas of the business: engineering, management, and cGMP regulatory. He has worked as a Director, Project Manager, and Engineer with Amgen, GlaxoSmithKline, ImClone, Sanofi-Pasteur, Lipton and Avon and is an Adjunct Professor at Stevens Institute of Technology and is a leader of programs at the University of Rhode Island. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) BioProcess Equipment (BPE) Standard Committee, Chairman of the ASME BPE Sealing Components Subcommittee, a member of the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers (ISPE) Disposables Community of Practice Steering Committee, and the chairman of the BPSA’s End-User Subcommittee.
Ken Wyatt - Tennessee Valley Authority
Ken Wyatt has been in the Equipment Maintenance Field for over 30 years, spending 10 years with Caterpillar and 21 years with TVA where he currently serves as Senior Manager of Compliance, Methods and Processes for the Equipment Support Services (ESS) group. He oversees business planning, procedure development, the corrective action program, crane inspections, heavy equipment certifications, environmental and safety protocol, as well as annual employee training.
Established in 1933 by the United States Congress, Tennessee Valley Authority is the nation’s largest public power provider and a wholly owned federal corporation of the United States. TVA’s ESS group manages and maintains an average fleet size of 4,000 utility and construction equipment pieces ranging from small forklifts up to 1,000 ton Cranes, serving the entire Tennessee Valley including parts of Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Virginia.
Rick Pitman - PSC Industrial Services
Rick Pitman is the current Environmental, Health, Safety and Transportation Director for PSC Industrial Services. Rick entered the Industrial Cleaning business in 1995 and is an active participant in Client and Contractor Associations dedicated to Continuous Safety Program Improvement.
PSC is a leading national provider of Industrial Cleaning and Environmental Services. PSC provides Hydroblasting, Vacuum, Tank Cleaning, Chemical Cleaning and Remediation Services to PetroChemical, Refinery, Utilities, and Upstream Oil and Gas Industries in the United States. The company employs over 4,000 personnel in 100 locations.
Council members agree, in writing, to abide by these NAHAD Confidentiality and Conflict of Interest policies.
Advisory Council Applications may be submitted at any time for the review and consideration of the Standards Committee.
NAHAD’s Standards Committee will oversee and coordinate activities of the Advisory Council in conjunction with the various Standards Committee sub-committees and hose group technical teams.The Vice-Chair of the NAHAD Standards Committee serves as the Chair of the Advisory Council. The NAHAD Standards Program Director serves as the Staff Director of the Hose Safety Institute and the Advisory Council.
